Sony is rumored to announce the FE 70-200mm F4.0 G OSS II Lens soon. According to latest reports, this will be a compact and lightweight “FE 70-200mm F4 G” successor with added macro capability. If the rumors are true, the new “FE 70-200mm F4.0 G OSS II” is expected to be even smaller and lighter than its predecessor, the “FE 70-200mm F4 G OSS | SEL70200G“.
In terms of pricing, the suggested retail price of the current “FE 70-200mm F4 G OSS” is $1,498. However, with the rumored upgrades and improvements, the price of the new “FE 70-200mm F4.0 G OSS II” may exceed $1,798, reflecting the lens’s premium features and capabilities.

Interestingly, the current model was released in March 2014, making this potential update the first in about nine years. This long-awaited refresh has already generated significant buzz among the photography community, especially considering that the “FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM” has already received a refresh.
For 70-200mm range, Sony F2.8 through GM has been remodeled to the Mark II type a little earlier, but it seems that the F4 through G will also be the Mark II type. The new F4 G adopts a completely redesigned optical system, is stronger for close-up photography, and is lighter and more compact.
